Just like the longest journey that begins with a single step, so does each sampler begin with a single stitch.  All stitches begin the same way, by sticking the needle first in, then out of the fabric.  The only difference between one type of stitch and the other is where you put that needle and how you manipulate the thread.   - Hands Across The Sea

An Update on a Couple of Finishes

"Seeds of Freedom" from Silver Creek Samplers is ready for the framers!  I finished this one a couple of months back.  I was inspired to stitch this pattern to commemorate all the ancestors on my husband's side of his family that have fought both in the Revolutionary War (at least 40+ of his direct ancestors) and the Civil War.  I felt this was a pattern that would honor their service.  When it arrives home from the framers, my intention is to write the names of the family members who fought this war on a piece of parchment paper and attach it on the backside for reference to future generations.

"Amazing Grace" of the 12-month series "Sunday Stitches" from Heartstring Samplery.  This is the first one in the collection and was released for the month of January.  I'm so excited about this new series and anxious to stitch them all.  Old Hymns truly represent one of my favorite childhood memories.  My mother and grandmother sang all the old hymns (off-key) as they cooked in the kitchen or in the car as they drove around town doing errands.  When hymns from God's Word are what come from your spirit as you're going about your day...you know it is God's Spirit that sits on your heart and captures your thoughts first and foremost.  What an amazing legacy my family has left!  This series will be stitched in their honor!

This is just a space to share what projects I'm currently working on while I sit and listen to the quietness of the day and the friends I encounter.
